Why You Need a New Waterline Installation

by Bill Turner

Your main waterline plays a huge role in the availability of fresh water in your home. If something happens to the waterline, you might run out of water or have to deal with significant property damage. But how many times do you check your waterline? You have probably never thought about it much before.

It can be hard to notice any problems are happening because the pipes are buried underground. While plumbers can address some of the problems through repairs, others may require a new waterline installation. Here are some reasons why you might want to replace your main waterline.

Frequent Leaks

Dealing with leaks can be frustrating, especially when they happen sporadically. As much as repairs can be cheap, it might get to a point where you cant just continue to incur the cost. If you have found yourself in such a predicament, the only solution is to replace the old pipes with new piping. This will not only save you money, but it will also give you peace of mind in the long run.

Aged Pipes

Waterlines can last for an extended period before experiencing any problems. But as pipes continue to age, they will deteriorate and cause all kinds of problems. The lifespan of your waterlines differs depending on the types of pipes used. Some pipes can last for 20 years while others may last up to 100 years. However, you don't have to wait for your pipes to collapse before you replace them. If you feel that your waterline has served you for a long time, have it replaced by a professional plumber.

Contaminated Water

If your waterline has breaks or cracks, it will most likely allow debris and dirt to contaminate the water moving into your house. Sometimes toxic chemicals and sewer waste might also find their way into the water pipes if you have these damages. This will pose a serious health risk to your family.

You can tell if your water is contaminated if it has a cloudy appearance, a strange smell, or a grainy texture. If the plumber finds that the problem is coming from your main waterline, you should probably consider replacing it as soon as you can.

Low Water Pressure

Low water pressure is a common plumbing problem in most homes. However, low water pressure should not worry you if it is happening in only one fixture. The only time you should panic is if it happens throughout the entire house. In most cases, you might be dealing with a clogged or corroded waterline. Corroded water pipes are hard to remedy, which means you should replace them altogether.

If you notice any of these problems, contact a local plumber to help fix your pipes.

Thank Your Plumbers — For Real!

When you have a plumber come work on your home, we hope you thank them. Really, you should be thanking any contractor who works on your home, but we are a little partial to plumbers and happen to think they deserve a little more recognition. After all, the stuff inside the pipes they work on doesn't usually smell very good. And even though they wear gloves, they have to get pretty close to it! If you would like to learn a little more about plumbers, then we invite you to read this blog. After learning the basics, you'll really want to thank your plumbers!
